Biography

Randy began his career journey at Aurora University, where for 4 years, he was a university paper editor/reporter, wrote all the book reviews (and other stories), and worked as a computer lab assistant. After graduating with a bachelors in Math – two minors (almost majors) in psychology, and literature and creative writing – he spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia, West Africa, teaching high school math, science, and literature.

His return to the US took him to the Northern Illinois University Computer Science masters program, only to accept a good Chicago job offer (two-thirds way into the program). From 1987 – 2000, Randy:
     1. Ran his own solo-employee consulting firm for IBM mainframes

     2. Did business work for some big name clients (E.G. - Allstate, Discover Card, BP Amoco, and United Airlines).
     3. Did his own sales and marketing, and created his own sales literature.
     4. Had services for clients in technical writing, software engineering, and business analysis.
     5. Was awarded a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Norwich University in 1995 (client demands stopped this career change).  Randy volunteered for 5 years working with adults with mental health issues, in a social setting, under the oversight of the Dupage Mental Health Department.

In 2000, the bottom fell out of the mainframe business market, so Randy joined Motorola, where he:

  1. Created and administered engineering websites
  2. Worked in the latest technologies (ASP.NET, Java, SQL Server, and Oracle)
  3. Was a business analyst for various engineering groups.
  4. Worked on various technical writing/ training material/ business communication requests.
  5.
Was awarded a Motorola Black Belt, and participated in software, and engineering quality projects.

Fueling a desire to become an American novelist, Randy undertook a series of courses in Literature and Creative Writing at the College of DuPage from 1993-2007, and took part in local area writers groups. 2007 found him studying with different copywriters (Consumer/ B2B market), knowing Motorola was undergoing a large downsizing effort. Following a 7500 IT work force reduction in November, 2007,  the idea for this business was formed, allowing him to combine a vast experience in Software Engineering, together with an extensive Business/Creative Writing/Copywriting expertise.
